ICQ is free! This is a small and powerful program that tells you whenever your friends are on-line with you, so you can chat and send messages in real time. You need to be online to install this program. ICQ makes it easier to find people online but you can set your security settings to require your authorization for someone to add you to their ICQ list, so stranger's can't monitor your online presence. And you can always add someone to an Ignore list to not receive future messages from them.
You can use several directories to search for friends and family or to meet people with
similar interests. ICQ lets you send invitation to join you on ICQ to those with email who
aren't yet on ICQ. Each person gets their own identification # that your computer will
remember for you.
