Meetings

The Greater Lewisville Chapter meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Child care is not provided.

We are currently meeting at the Texas Bank located on the corner of Sagebrush and FM 2499 in Flower Mound. We are in search of a permanent meeting place in Lewisville. Please direct any suggestions to Stacey Pascullo or Kaycee Pollock.

Meeting Topics

(subject change without notice)

Each meeting includes a group discussion or a guest speaker and announcements and introductions. Selected topics reflect our lives as both parents and women with interests outside of parenting, and will be balanced between

Woman/Mother Issues,

Parenting issues/Struggles and triumphs,

Work place/Future aspirations/Sequencing, and

Open discussion.

Tell us what you’d like to see, maybe we can arrange it.

Jan. 5 - i-Basics ~~ Demystify the Internet

Do I really need to pay AOL over $25/month to be online? What do I get with those cheaper services? Browser wars - How does this apply to me? Chats, Newsgroups, freebies and neat-o stuff . . . I'm not a computer geek can the internet still benefit ME?

Jan. 19 - This year, Do What You Are

Let's discover your unique personality type and use it to make your day to day activities more fulfilling. Based on the Book *Do What You Are* by Paul D. Tieger & Barbara Barron-Tieger.

Feb. 16 - Rainy Day Fun & Kid's Crafts
Discussion by Beth Edwards

It's the middle of winter and we've all been trapped in the house for weeks. The kids have watched ALL the videos 10,000 times. You can't wait until spring gets here. Share what you do to stay sane; plus, get some fresh ideas.

Mar. 2 -Birthday Party Ideas
CHANGE IN LOCATION: Stacey Pascullo's House (bank unavailable)

Do you have any ideas for fun parties? When was the last time you had a
party for yourself or your spouse? This will be a night to share ideas and
stories of wild parties and things to do with our kids.

Mar. 16 - Stress Management ~ with Ann Dunnewold, Ph.D.
MEETING LOCATION BACK TO TEXAS BANK

A nationally known author and Dallas area psychologist, Ann Dunnewold, has agreed to share some of her wisdom as a part-time professional psychologist and full-time mother. Almost all those babies in this round of our FEMALE Chapter's baby boom will be here by this meeting, so please attend and learn how to manage the stresses of being a woman and a mother. Her local practice is based on Women's Issues and Family Psychology; and many women have enjoyed Ann's book, _Postpartum Survival Guide ~ "It wasn't supposed to be like this.."_ published in 1994. This should be a great meeting! (I have a copy of this book if anyone would like to read it, though her talk will not be on postpartum depression.)

Mar. 23 - Chapter Business Meeting

This will be your chance to get involved in the projects our chapter does in 1999. In fact without you, some of the committees may not be active this year. If you are a new member, this is your chance to contribute your ideas and start the new year with a new, fun project. If you are not a new member, you need to be here to provide guidance and ideas too.  Everyone is welcome and everyone gets a say in Chapter Business. This is no longer a Board Meeting - It's for all of us!

The Chapter Business Meeting will be held at the Texas Bank from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.   If you have a long drive or if your husband comes home late again, show up late. RSVP to Jean Butts or send your ideas by proxy.

Apr. 6 - Surviving on One Income

How do you make ends meet and get by on one income? Are you able to save for
the future? Or is it a challenge to just put food on the table and pay the
bills? Lots has been written on this topic but the real tips come from those
doing it month by month. That's us! Let's share how we make it work to make
it a little easier on all of us.

Apr. 20 - How To Date Your Mate

The kids are sick. Dad's stuck in rush hour traffic for an hour and a half.
You've been drafted to be room mother at the preschool. The house is a mess
again, or is it *still* a mess? How can you take time away from your
endless list of things to do and make time to build your relationship with
your husband? You've known the man for 15 years, how can you still be
expected to be excited about a "date" with him?

May 4 - Family Vacation Experiences and Plans

How do you take a family vacation with young kids? And how do you do it on a tight budget? Come share your vacation experiences with the group. Learn where to and not to take your family. Find out what resources are available to help you plan your next trip.

Discuss your weekly experiences with other moms. Seek new ideas for scheduling your week. Share your successes and failures around the house and with the children.

June 15 - Budgeting for One Income

At this meeting, Speaker Brenda Haley, a local stay-at-home mom, will share her instight on budgeting. She claims "Yes, even you can balance!" She is willing to work with individuals in private consultations upon request.

July 6th - Chapter Business Meeting

Now that we have a leader and co-leader again, we are planning a little more structure to share the duties between us. We really need YOU there for your feedback on our ideas. We will also vote to amend the chapter bylaws to change the officer’s terms to match the fiscal year. And we'll be deciding on our 1999 Outreach projects. Plus, we will discuss the changes in the Playgroup Guidelines, improvements to the meetings and social calendars, and much more. All Chapter Members are encouraged to attend.
It won't be ALL Chapter Business; Jean promised a surprise.

Are you planning to conceive another baby soon? Perhaps the bun is already in the oven. How will you survive when the next new baby comes? An experienced panel of moms will discuss with you how they kept their sanity when the new bundle of joy arrived. Helpful hints for surviving with tow or more "little darlings" will include how to get a shower, go to the grocery store, load the kids in the car, make dinner and go on a date. Be sure to bring your own questions!

September 21st – Children’s Holiday Clothing Swap &
Casual Discussion: "Fantasy vs. Reality of Staying Home"

Bring your child's holiday clothing and shoes that they've outgrown and swap with other moms. Also, bring costumes from past Halloweens ... another great way to share! The discussion (fantasy vs. reality of staying home) will be casual, but it may provide some much-needed assurance that you're not alone! All of us probably can name at least one way in which staying home is different than what we expected
