Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is it?This list is for local Lewisville, Texas FEMALE chapter members. It is a great resource for exchanging ideas, finding information, sharing funnies, and getting support from other chapter members just like you, from our local FEMALE chapter! You can expect to receive approximately 1 to 2 emails per day for this list depending on the current flow of conversation and the current number of subscribers. This is an automated list serve that electronically maintains the mailing list of subscribers. Subscribers will be able to send and receive list messages using the list address below.
How does it work? You simply send all mail that you'd like to share with other FEMALE members on-line to the following address: greaterlewisvillefemale@egroups.com. Messages sent to that address will be distributed to all the subscribed members of the list. If you did it right, you should also receive a copy of your own message back. If you wish to reply ONLY to the author of the message privately, then hit REPLY on your email reader. If you would like to reply to the entire list, you can hit REPLY TO ALL on your email reader. Just be sure when replying to the list that the "To" area of your reply only contains the list address. If there are other addresses in the "To" area, those people will get your email twice! Subject line:Just put whatever appropriate subject you like for your messages, and the list-serve will automatically add "[greaterlewisvillefemale]" to the subject line of all messages to identify them as list mail. List Archive:Another nice feature of the list is that you will be able to go back and read a private archive of old messages that occurred before you joined. Only subscribed list members have access to this. Leaving the List:You may remove yourself from the Mailing List at any time. Just send an email to the list serve at: greaterlewisvillefemale-unsubscribe@egroups.com and you will be removed immediately. It is even be possible to UN-subscribe temporarily if you are going to be away for a few weeks and then re-subscribe when you return, if we have a lot of list traffic and you do not want your mailbox filling up while you're away. Problems:Please do not send any administrative requests to the mailing list. In case of problems, contact the list manager (Jean) at greaterlewisvillefemale-owner@egroups.com or directly at PuterJean@usa.net. Restrictions on list e-mail:Please observe these two restrictions:
What about other list etiquette?General-Interest vs. Private comments:Please make sure responses that you send to the entire list are of general interest to all members. Also, a mailbox full of messages that only say "me too!" is time consuming and not useful to women who are busy chasing children all day! If your comment is between you and one other person, please take it to private email in order to cut down on irrelevant mail being sent to the entire list. But, if your reply is intended for only one person, but contains information that might be of interest to others, then by all means send it to the whole list! Multiple Recipients:Please do not include our mailing list address in a long list of recipients. This might really mess some people up who want to reply to the message thinking it is list mail only. If you send things to our list, please do so in a separate email from other recipients. This is good policy for any mailing list you belong to. Virus Warnings and Other Time-Wasters:Please do not forward "virus warning". Please know that these are almost always hoaxes. You cannot get a virus from an email message unless you execute an attached file. So simply do not open attached files from sources that you are unsure of. Please check this page sponsored by the US Dept. of Energy for the latest Internet Virus Hoaxes, and pass it along to anyone who sends you these warnings -- <http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/CIACHoaxes.html> Attached Files:Please do not send attached files to the list. Not all members' email systems can accept files. This wastes a lot of download time for folks who can't even use it. If you have files people may be interested in, then send them directly to the interested parties. If they are just text files, then try cutting and pasting them into a regular message as opposed to attaching the file. |
